The Australian Brain Cancer Foundation (ABCF) aims to improve the lives of brain cancer patients and their families through comprehensive support, innovative research, and access to advanced medical resources. Its key goals include closing gaps in care, funding next-generation treatments, providing practical and emotional support, and raising awareness to drive better outcomes across Australia.

The ABCF is dedicated to providing essential assistance and compassionate care to brain cancer patients and their families from the moment of diagnosis. It also funds critical research and medical infrastructure within the Canberra Region. Every contribution directly supports vital services that address the unique challenges faced by the brain cancer community, ensuring patients and families receive the care they need.

Founded by passionate Canberrans, the ABCF seeks to address key gaps in brain cancer care, research, awareness, and treatment. Through initiatives like the Brain Cancer Support Team, the Research in Brain Cancer Initiative, and the Medical Equipment Initiative, the foundation aims to make significant progress in these areas and improve outcomes nationwide.

The ABCF is registered with the Australian Charities and Not-for-profits Commission (ACNC). Thanks to the dedication of volunteer directors and our CEO, sponsorship covers all administrative and operational costs, ensuring 100% of donations directly fund our initiatives.

The foundation is guided by leading Canberra-based medical professionals, including Professor Leonie Quinn, Neuro-oncologist Dr Ganes Pranavan, Neurosurgeons Associate Professor Peter Mews and Dr Hari Bandi, Radiation Oncologist Dr Kylie Jung, Palliative Care Specialist Dr Sivaraj Rajadorai, and Senior Research Officer Naomi Mitchell. Our First Initiative – Canberra Brain Cancer Support Team (CBCST)

We are excited to announce the launch of our first initiative: the Canberra Brain Cancer Support Team (CBCST). This pilot program will provide comprehensive, free in-home community support for brain cancer patients—both adults and children—and their families following a diagnosis. The CBCST aims to address the complex emotional and social challenges patients and families face, offering direct assistance and filling critical gaps in support during their most difficult times.
