Cyclabilities and WaterAbilities programs are community driven initiatives supporting children living with a disability to participate meaningfully and inclusively in sporting activities.
These programs are uniquely modelled on allied health principles and delivered within a therapeutic framework.
The weekly programs encourage children with disabilities and their families regularly engaging with their local community to develop safety skills, fundamental movement skills and swimming and cycling skills. The programs also promote positive mental health and wellbeing through building community and social connectedness. Developed and directed entirely by volunteers and facilitated by Allied Health Professionals and Disability Support workers, participants are supported to build skills and capacity to remove barriers often associated with further participation in organised sporting and recreational activity.
