Hands Across Canberra is a new approach to philanthropy and giving in Canberra. Building on the success of the 2010 launch, this year’s event will provide a forum to disrupt current thinking and start a new conversation about need, engagement with the community sector and giving in all forms, leading to lasting change in our community. We will also announce some exciting grants from the Hands Across Canberra Foundation.
More than 300 people from the corporate, philanthropic and community sectors will attend this event and the program includes:
ACT Chief Minister, Katy Gallagher MLA
Keynote Speaker: Dr David Kennedy, Director of Australian Philanthropic Programmes, The Atlantic Philanthropies
The Atlantic Philanthropies is dedicated to bringing about lasting changes in the lives of people who are disadvantaged.
In preparation for committing its remaining funds by 2016, Atlantic has initiated Giving While Living Networks in Australia. The purpose is to bring together governments at all levels, international foundations and Australian philanthropists to collaborate on large projects that otherwise might go unfunded. Dr Kennedy will share Atlantic’s experiences in two states, Tasmania and New South Wales, and discuss how a similar network might work in Canberra.
