Partnerships that empower Canberra
Partnerships that empower Canberra
In 2024-25, our commitment to partnering for Canberra has grown stronger than ever, deepening connections across business, philanthropy, government, and the charitable sector. Together, these partnerships have enabled us to respond more effectively to the rising challenges facing our community, including increased cost of living pressures. Through collaborative initiatives like the Canberra Foundations Collaborative, Gears4Giving Gala and the Chief Minister’s Charitable Fund, we have pooled expertise and resources to create impactful, sustainable solutions addressing the root causes of disadvantage and building greater resilience within Canberra’s social fabric.Â
This year has reinforced the power of collective action, as over 350 charity partners and a growing network of supporters continue to work side by side, ensuring vital services reach those who need them most. We are profoundly grateful for the generosity, dedication, and innovation within our community, which inspires us to pursue even greater achievements in fostering equity, opportunity, and wellbeing for every Canberran. Together, we are shaping a stronger, more inclusive Canberra where no one is left behind.Â
This year, we proudly launched our new Corporate Giving Program, welcoming 40 incredible supporters who have stepped up in meaningful ways:Â
We are very grateful to these new champions and to the longstanding support of numerous local businesses, foundations, and organisations who give where they live. Your engagement and generosity power the work of our charity partners and uplift the entire Canberra community.Â

Thank you to our HAC HeroesÂ
Thank you to our HAC Hero partners for making a difference to Hands Across Canberra and the Canberra community.  Their generous support had a meaningful, community-wide impact through our Canberra Day Appeal matched funding. Our goal was to help Canberra’s charities raise $750,000 but thanks to the enormous generosity of our community we raised over $820,000, an incredible result for everyone. 102 local charities participated in the Canberra Day Appeal this year. HAC Hero donations made a significant contribution to $220,000 in matched funding. This was a major boost for charities and people across Canberra who need our help.Â

Bendigo Community Bank Canberra & Regions has generously provided rent-free office space, enabling us to establish our first office and strengthen our operational foundation. Â
Over the years, Swell has been a trusted contributor, supporting our website development ambitionsÂ
JB Were offers expert management of our investment portfolio since 2018Â
We also rely on the professional services of Ernst & Young, Meyer Vandenberg, and Sneddon Hall & Gallop Lawyers. Â
Scyne Advisory played a key role in shaping our five-year business plan.Â
Our annual fundraising lunch is graciously hosted by the National Gallery of Australia. Â
Centre Red IT continues to ensure our technology systems run smoothly, providing essential ongoing support. Â
We are profoundly grateful to all these partners whose dedication and expertise empower us to advance our mission every day.Â
Our Media Partners
Our media partners are at the heart of amplifying our stories and inspiring generosity across Canberra.Â
A special thank you to OneX and Region Media for their unwavering support and powerful storytelling, and to TalkForce for bringing their energy and creativity to the Canberra Day Appeal.Â
We’re proud to be part of the Southern Cross 10 Embrace program and grateful to 666 ABC, Mix 106.3, FM 104.7, Canberra Daily, Radio 1RPH, and Valley FM for ensuring our message reaches every corner of the community.Â
With their support — and the backing of our community — the Canberra Day Appeal grew beyond our expectations, and as we approach its 8th anniversary, we know the future will be even more impactful.Â
Industry Support
Our connections with key industry associations play an essential role in advancing our mission and strengthening our ties within Canberra’s business community.Â
Groups such as the ACT Master Builders’ Association, the Australian Information Industry Association, and the Canberra Business Chamber continue to provide invaluable support—not only as generous donors but also as vital partners in facilitating engagement and collaboration. The ACT Master Builders’ Association and its members have been instrumental in providing in-kind contributions, notably through their involvement in our charity house builds. We are currently underway with our next project in Whitlam with A+P Leemhuis, with proceeds earmarked to support domestic and family violence initiatives.Â
The real estate and construction sectors remain steadfast supporters, offering a blend of in-kind, awareness-raising, and financial contributions. We extend our gratitude to champions like Zango, Blackshaw Real Estate, Independent, Luton Properties, Maloney’s, PBS Building ACT, and Hindmarsh for their ongoing commitment.Â
Peer Foundations
We enjoy strong partnership with the Snow Foundation, John James Foundation, Aspen Foundation, Hoff Foundation, the Boorer Foundation, the Canberra Hospital Foundation, the Tall Foundation, Davencare Foundation, the Minderoo Foundation and the Australian Communities Foundation. Their continued advice, shared resources, and support significantly enhance our impact. Notably, our enduring partnership with the Snow Foundation—since our founding in 2010—has been fundamental, especially through joint projects like Vital Signs that address community disadvantage.
We are also deeply grateful to be part of the Canberra Foundations Collaborative—a partnership established by Hands Across Canberra, the Snow Foundation, and the John James Foundation, which continues to grow stronger every year. Through this collaboration, we are able to pool expertise and resources, share learning, and work together to boost the collective impact of philanthropy across Canberra. The Collaborative exemplifies the power of working as one community to address our region’s most pressing challenges.
Government
Hands Across Canberra recognises the considerable support we receive from the ACT Government, in particular the Community Services Directorate; Chief Minister, Treasury and Economic Development Directorate.
Thank you Canberra!
