20for20 – Brumbies pledge $20k to HAC if 20k go to game!

Published on 18 July 2014

The University of Canberra Brumbies will donate $20,000 to Hands Across Canberra if 20,000 fans attend Saturday night’s Qualifier against the Chiefs at GIO Stadium!

As major supporters of the ACT community, the UC Brumbies see plenty of symmetry with Hands Across Canberra. UC Brumbies General Manager Simon Chester said he was pleased to be able to link with one of the ACT’s biggest social supporters.

“Hands Across Canberra provide countless local, not-for-profit organisations with a platform and voice so we are pushing the community to get behind the Brumbies and help us get to 20,000,” Chester said.

“The last couple of years we have only reached 20,000 on a handful of occasions, but we are sure with such a big game coming to Canberra and a fantastic opportunity to help the ACT community through Hands Across Canberra that we’ll see huge numbers through the gate.

“I’d encourage all Canberrans who are passionate about our region to jump on board, support your team and in doing so support your local community.”

The UC Brumbies attracted 20,000 fans to Canberra twice in 2013, against the Waratahs and the British and Irish Lions.

With a 2013 Super Rugby Final replay on our doorstep against one of the competition’s most electrifying teams in the Chiefs, UC Brumbies organisers are confident of a similar figure come Saturday night.
