Rise Above - Capital Region Cancer Relief, has provided financial assistance and support to local cancer patients since 1986. We assist patients of all ages and any cancer type.

Established in 1986, Rise Above is independent charity that relies almost entirely on the community and local businesses to raise funds to assist cancer patients.  We have a small team consisting of 3 office staff, and 15- 20 amazing volunteers who coordinate community led fundraisers, liaise with or our corporate partners, and businesses who support us and most importantly the cancer patients that we help.  We currently have 300 individuals and families registered with us and we will require between $5-600,000 this year to support them if they fully draw on our commitment to them. We assist by covering the following costs.

1. Their prescription and over the counter medication related to their cancer diagnosis.
2. Chemotherapy related costs.
3. Nutritional supplements prescribed from their dieticians.
4. One off payment to electricity, gas account and water accounts
5. Weekly Food & Fuel vouchers
6. Assisting with the initial costs of sperm or egg freezing
7. Costs associated with the use of the University of Canberra, Cancer Wellness Centre
