Dementia Australia exists to support and empower the estimated half a million Australians living with dementia and almost 1.6 million people involved in their care.
Dementia Australia’s purpose is to transform the experience of people impacted by dementia by elevating their voices and inspiring excellence in support and carefree from discrimination. Dementia Australia was originally founded by people impacted by dementia, who have co-designed the organisation at its core. We are the leading national provider of dementia information, support services, raising community awareness, professional training, and technology innovation for consumers.
We have three strategic priorities that we are aiming to achieve by 2023. These priorities are to:
- Significantly reduce the time it takes to diagnose dementia and increase the number of people accessing support
- Create a baseline and best practice standards for quality of dementia care and advocate for these standards to be implemented into aged care facilities across Australia
- Tackle discrimination head on so that no one with dementia feels isolated
