Mind Medicine Australia (MMA) is a charity that helps to alleviate the suffering caused by mental illness in Australia through expanding the treatment options available to medical practitioners and their patients. We are establishing safe and effective psychedelic-assisted treatments to cure a range of mental illnesses.

Mind Medicine Australia is a registered DGR 1 charity founded by Tania de Jong AM and Peter Hunt AM, pioneering the development of regulatory-approved and research-backed medicine-assisted psychotherapy for the treatment of mental ill-health in Australia. Specifically, the clinical application of medicinal psilocybin and MDMA for the treatment of depression, anxiety, post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), end-of-life stress and addiction.

Unlike current treatments such as anti-depressants, which only manage the illness and can have nasty side effects, psilocybin and MDMA assisted therapies have been scientifically proven to be a safe and effective cure for anxiety, depression, end-of-life stress, addictions and PTSD after just a short treatment program.

These medicines are also being researched for dementia, eating disorders, OCD and other conditions.

They have been granted Breakthrough Therapy Status by the FDA in the USA to fast-track their approval. This designation is only given to medicines which may prove to be vastly superior to existing treatments.
Our mission is to help alleviate the suffering caused by our accelerating mental illness epidemic in Australia. We do this through expanding the treatment options available to medical practitioners and their patients (including many Veterans who are suffering with mental illnesses) so that these medicines are available to all Australians needing these treatments irrespective of wealth or location. Our focus is wholly clinical.

Key aspects of our strategy include educational events, webinars, screenings and the development of more than 30 Chapters around Australia, a major International Medical Summit in Melbourne in November 2021, the development and delivery of an accredited national therapist training course, the development of an appropriate legal and ethical frameworks for discussion with regulators, the delivery of reliable sources of pharmaceutical grade psilocybin and MDMA in Australia and the development of the Asia-Pacific Centre for Emerging Mental Health Therapies (CEMHT).
