Reading Out of Poverty Inc

ChildrenEducationIndigenousMigrant

Since 2011, Reading out of Poverty (ROOP) is the only non-profit organisation in Victoria with a sole focus on developing the early literacy skills of Victoria’s most disadvantaged children aged 0-5 years.

ROOP promotes the importance of literacy in the early years and provides literacy resources and services for families and their children from low socio-economic backgrounds, including new migrants, refugees, and Indigenous individuals in Victoria.

Our vision is for every Victorian family to understand the critical importance of early childhood literacy and to take an active role in their child’s reading development.

Our primary purpose is to provide a strong foundation for children to learn to read and to promote language skills and literacy for children, beginning at birth, and to support parents as their child’s first teachers.
