Common Ground Open Day 11 April
Published on 31 March 2015
Common Ground Canberra targets the most vulnerable chronically homeless people in the community. These are people who have been homeless continuously for six months or more, or who have experience multiple episodes of primary homelessness over a 12 month period. They often have substantial barriers to housing stability such as a disability, mental illness or substance misuse disorder. Common Ground Canberra also targets low-income earners who are unable to access other affordable housing options.
Many local businesses have generously provided much needed support including Snow Foundation, IKEA, Canberra Quilters Inc, Domayne, Winning Appliances and Uniting Church Gungahlin. There are many more commitments being made to see the units fully furnished.
You are invited to a guided tour of the ground floor and a couple of furnished apartments.
The builder of Common Ground St Hilliers will be on hand to show visitors on the day and there will also be a sausage sizzle and soft drink with a gold coin donation going to Common Ground. The Common Ground Board and volunteers will be available to answer any questions as will Argyle Community Housing and Northside Community Services.
