In 2024, with the incredible support of over 250 generous Canberrans and Canberra businesses, the Gears 4 Giving fundraising gala raised over $180,000, with a portion of these funds designated to partner with Hands Across Canberra for this Relief and Capital Upgrades Grant Round.

 

Funding Available

A total of $40,000 is available for this grant round. Individual grants are capped at $2,500.

Project Completion

All funded projects must be completed within 12 months of receiving the grant.

Eligibility

Applications are welcome from registered charitable organisations* operating in Canberra and the nearby region.

*If your organisation is not a registered charity, you must partner with an eligible auspicing organisation to apply for this grant. Details on auspicing arrangements should be included in your application.

Funding Priorities:

This grant round aims to support items/projects that provide relief and minor capital upgrades, strengthening the capacity of charitable organisations to serve their communities. Funding will be prioritised for projects addressing critical needs, including (but not limited to):

• Relief Items: Provision of essential goods to individuals and families in need.
• Community Pantries: Support for pantries and community kitchens, including essential equipment like refrigerators for storing perishable items.
• Temporary Assistance: Activities providing immediate support to individuals and families facing hardship.
• Frontline Worker Support: Initiatives that directly benefit frontline workers serving vulnerable populations.
• Essential Furnishings: Provision of essential furniture to support crisis resilience and relief efforts for community members.
• Capacity Building: Projects that strengthen the operational capacity of charitable organisations, enabling them to better serve their communities.
• Capital improvements for service spaces

• Application Period: February 4, 2025 – March 4, 2025
• Funding Decisions Announced: April 2025
• Grant Funding Disbursed: April 2025

All applications must be submitted via the online grants portal: Logon Page – Grant Lifecycle Manager (grantinterface.com.au)

Acquittal & Impact 

To acquit the grant, Hands Across Canberra requires:

1. A statement of expenditure signed by the CEO or equivalent
2. A brief statement (one to two sentences) describing the grant’s impact
3. A photograph illustrating the grant’s impact for sharing with the funders
