In celebration of National Youth Week (NYW) 2014, last week saw the premier of the much anticipated film Strong Women: Circus Sisters. The documentary was officially opened by Minister for Young People, Women and Disabilities, Joy Burch.

Hands Across Canberra was a proud supporter of this project and the event, along with The Snow Foundation and ACT Community Services Directorate.

Strong Women: Circus Sisters is a documentary film which tracks the rehearsal and public performance of WWDACT’s Strong Women, Circus Sisters Troupe on I-Day, the 3rd of December 2013. Created by the talented Marcus Freeman, this project celebrates and supports the contributions of women, particularly young women, with disabilities to the Canberra community.

Following the premiere, WWDACT presented a showcase of their current and forthcoming initiatives that aim to improve the status and lives of women with disabilities in the ACT and surrounding region.
