Thank you Canberra!

We are so delighted to share with you the outstanding achievement of raising over $126,000 on the first-ever Australian capital city giving day for a community foundation!!

Generous local individuals and companies who threw their support behind the campaign and those who matched the funds raised by HAC on the day helped to spread the word and raise more generous donations from the public.  This means that the amount raised by the local community was doubled thanks to businesses such as the Canberra Data Centre and Village Building Co.

“In a time when so many of us have been deeply affected by the recent bushfires, now more than ever Canberrans need to come together and support the over 250 charities under the Hands Across Canberra umbrella,” said Peter. “It’s great to see local people helping their fellow Canberrans and keeping local issues top of mind!”

Cheryl O’Donnell, Chief Executive Officer Canberra Police Community Youth Club, said “The investment from HAC couldn’t be timelier after the recent bushfire crisis, where we have seen an increase in young people accessing our services. Hands Up for Canberra Day is a great initiative and will help save lives.”

HAC Ambassador Rob de Castella said “By donating to the Hands Up for Canberra Giving Day 2020, we’ve been able to provide a sustainable, long-term source of funding for local charities and organisations. Every local donation stays in the ACT and makes a difference in the ACT.”

Greg Boorer, CEO of Canberra Data Centres said “As a growing local company we are delighted to be involved with this appeal.  All the staff of CDC were really engaged and as a company, we supported their generosity.  CDC is a very proud partner of Hands Across Canberra”.

Travis Doherty, CEO of Village Building Co, said “It was great to be part of this campaign, and Village was proud to match our staff donations.  We look forward to an even bigger year next year!”

“Hands Up for Canberra” Giving Day will see over 250 local charities and organisations benefit from the generous donations of those who supported the appeal on 11 March.

Thank you Canberra, for opening your hearts to a great cause.       #handsup4CBR
